The Sixth Judicial District Attorney’s Office was honored by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for its work on the State and Federal cases against Jeffrey Biddle, formerly of Deming. District Attorney Michael R. Renteria, Deputy District Attorney Arthur Van Haselen III, Deputy District Attorney Edna Reyes and Lead Investigator Jacob Villegas were presented awards from Alexander M. M. Uballez, U.S. Attorney for the District of New Mexico, at a ceremony April 26, 2024. The District Attorney’s team was honored for work that resulted in a 30 year sentence in State court and a life sentence in the Federal case for Biddle, on crimes related to his sexual abuse of an 18 month old child. Other agencies involved in the cases included the Luna County Sheriff’s Department, Deming Police Department and Homeland Security Investigations.
