February 18, 2025 I As part of his commitment to serving the communities of Grant, Hildago and Luna counties, Sixth Judicial District Attorney Norman R. Wheeler took his platform to all law enforcement agencies serving these communities. DA Wheeler’s number one commitment will be to re-establish partnerships with the charging officers to help everyone involved with producing the best possible legal cases.
Upon becoming District Attorney this year, Wheeler set an active on-call response for all DA prosecutors to assist with any law enforcement questions and create a fully accountable verification process for all incoming cases. “We must secure these cases to make them solid. Unless we start holding people accountable, things aren’t going to get better” Wheeler said. “This is the beginning groundwork in preparation for the upcoming implementation of the Case Management Ruling by the New Mexico Supreme Court. We are preparing so that our procedures will be set in place well ahead of the transition.”
DA Wheeler met with law enforcement from the NM State Police, local sheriffs and police officers working in Deming, Lordsburg and Silver City municipalities.
